I love seeing children excited and enthused by their writing so I always spend a lot of time making sure that the content and level of challenge is just right. Over the next six weeks, starting Monday 22nd February, I will run six sessions for children aged 7 - 9 and 9 - 12 on the theme of journalistic writing entitled 'Newspapers, headlines and interviews. The children will be challenged to write impacting headlines, summarise events into one power packed sentence, structure a news report, add quotations and comments and organise their text into paragraphs. With the older group we will look at bias and how we can write the same report from two different points of view. We will look at question marks and exclamation marks, speech marks and reported speech, semi colons (9 - 12 group) and general punctuation. I am excited about these sessions and to see the children's responses. To take part in any of my online sessions, visit
